Previously, Mr Lie served in the government service for many years and last held the posts of Assistant Registrar of the Land Titles and Deputy Registrar of Deeds. Managing Director LIE
CHIN-CHIN Ms Lie has amassed a decade of experience in
conducting trials in the Subordinate Courts, the Family Court, the High
Court as well as the Court of Appeal. Her work is centered mainly around
conveyancing, family law, probate, trusts and corporate matters. Ms Lie's
dedication to achieve the highest professional standard was recognized
when she received a compliment from none other than the ex Chief Justice
Yong Pung How in the written judgment of the Court of Appeal of
Ms Lie also actively contributes to society. She sits on
the board of a public listed company. Entrusted as an active church member,
she is dedicated to mentor women. She has helped out in grassroot
activities, in setting up foundations and has volunteered with charitable
organizations.
She is a committee member of Fei Yue Community Services. Her views
are often sought by the press. She contributes regularly to the
Personal Adviser Column in the Sunday Times. Apart from her legal career, she enjoys nurturing her
4 young children together with her supportive husband. |

Director DANIEL GOH CHOON WAH Mr Daniel Goh Choon Wah was called to the Singapore
Bar in 1993. In the course of his practice, he has had opportunity to
serve and learn under his then-boss and current High Court Judge Ms
Belinda Ang. Having built his reputation in litigation with many
heavyweight cases under his belt involving million dollar judgments, Mr
Goh’s clients now include a major insurance company and various SMEs in
varied industries. He continues to grow his practice in
diverse fields of litigation including criminal litigation, personal
injuries, insurance, medical negligence, contractual disputes, shipping
and construction law. Mr Goh has also gained a rare grasp of the ins and
outs of civil procedure, and in the field of conflicts of law (i.e. where
a foreign plaintiff or defendant argues on which country’s laws are
applicable), having on occasions argued these matters in both the High

Director LESLIE FOONG SIEW HONG Mr Leslie Foong Siew Hong, was called to the
Singapore Bar in 1992. Mr Foong’s practice has been
varied.
He has experience in wide areas of the law pertaining to civil and
criminal litigation which includes family and commercial and general
solicitors’ work. Presently, Mr Foong’s particular focus is in family
law, whether in helping individuals in their often painful and difficult
journeys through separations and divorces or in sharing with couples their
newfound joy in the adoption of a baby. Apart from helping his clients in their
legal processes, he often makes available to them his extensive resources
for the healing and restoration of their damaged or broken lives, for
healthy growth of their inner selves or for equipping them to be better
parents to their children. From his wide network of counsellors
and social workers, he is able to refer his clients to those who are best
suited to counsel and help them. He has formed friendships with
professionals in the various care and counseling centres through his
volunteer work with them and their clients. |

Director LIM
KER SHEON Lim Ker Sheon joined Messrs Characterist LLC as a
Director on 1 April 2008 having previously practiced with the firms of
Messrs Derrick Ravi Partnership (now Straits Law Practice LLC) and Asia
Law Corporation. Ker Sheon also branched outside the
legal profession into the areas of IT and Business Development Consulting
in Singapore and China for a period of about 2 years. Ker Sheon has acted as legal counsel on corporate and
litigation matters for Statutory Boards, Quasi-Government Institutions,
hospitals, and for both MNCs and SMEs in the construction, IT, education,
logistics and retail industries. Ker Sheon also serves as Secretary and Legal Counsel
on the Management Board of the Andrew and Grace Home (a Home for teenage
girls in crisis), and also teaches law on a part-time basis with the PSB
Academy (undergraduate engineering courses). Ker Sheon is a frequent
speaker on the seminar circuit, primarily in the areas of Commercial law
and Mergers & Acquisitions. Ker Sheon’s primary areas of practice are in
corporate law and IT-corporate law. He advises corporate clients on
Mergers and Acquisitions, local and international Franchising, legal and
operational aspects of product development (including Intellectual
Property rights, efficacy and costs), drafting of commercial contracts,
drafting of tenancy agreements and renewals, drafting and/or reviewing
standard form Purchase Orders, Invoices, Terms and Conditions of Sale.
Ker Sheon is also involved in criminal law, civil
litigation with an emphasis on construction litigation, commercial
arbitration, mediation, dispute resolution and debt negotiation and
management. Ker Sheon has been involved with cases as diverse as the
defence and acquittal of clients involved in wildlife smuggling,
cross-border Mergers and Acquisitions and local and overseas

Director LEE
TERK YANG Mr Lee Terk Yang graduated with a LLB (Hons) degree
from the National University of Singapore in 2000 and was called to the
Singapore Bar in 2003. He was previously with the firm of Messrs Tan Rajah
& Cheah for a period of 5 years before joining this firm. He has a
varied legal practice and as part of his portfolio, he would handle
matrimonial, criminal, employment, debt collection, MCST, medical
negligence, estate and probate, as well as other general civil litigation
matters. His clients include SMEs, sole proprietorships and also various
individuals. Terk Yang has forged close working relationships with all his
clients and as a result, he is able to have a good understanding about
each of them, and is also able to develop a keen sense for their
individual needs. Soccer is a great passion to Terk Yang, and between
2000 and 2002, he actually played soccer professionally. After spending 2
years as a full-time footballer, Terk Yang decided that Law, is his
calling and hence his decision to rejoin the legal profession. Outside of practice, Terk Yang is firmly committed to
his family and serves actively in his Church as a Worship Leader and
Guitarist. He is also actively involved with both the Law Society of
Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law. He has been appointed to sit
on the Academy’s Membership & Social Committee (since 2006). With the
Law Society, he is currently a Council member (since 2005) and has sat on
the Executive Committee (2006-2007) and on the Finance Committee (as the
Assistant Treasurer in 2007). He is the current chairperson of the Law
Society’s Social & Welfare Committee (since 2007) and is also actively
involved with the Young Lawyers’ Committee as well as the Sports
Committee. Still having a great passion for soccer, Terk Yang is also the
Captain for the Law Society’s Premier Soccer Team.

Associate Director EUGENE TAY CHIAN YI Mr Eugene Tay was called to the Singapore Bar in 2005. After a stint at his first firm Lee & Lee handling conveyancing matters, Mr Tay worked as a Probation Officer in the Ministry of Community, Youth and Sports where he worked closely with youth offenders placed on probation. He returned to private legal practice in 2007 having gained valuable insight into the juvenile justice system and probation system. His current practice is in civil and criminal litigation. | |||||||

Director ADRIAN WEE Adrian obtained his LLB from the National University of Singapore in 2003. He started practice in a large local law firm before joining the Firm in 2008.. Adrian’s main practice areas are criminal litigation and civil litigation. Adrian’s criminal practice includes both “white- collar” and “blue- collar” offences. Adrian has acted in a number of cases involving capital punishment, as well as property, violent and sex offences. Adrian has also acted in a number of commercial crime matters, including investment fraud, false accounting, forgery and corruption. In addition, Adrian has acted in cases involving market manipulation, false trading and other breaches of the Securities and Futures Act. Apart from criminal defence work, Adrian also advises corporations who have been the victims of fraud on internal and external audit, compliance, disclosure and employment issues arising as a result of Police investigations. In addition, Adrian helps develop internal investigation protocols for clients in order to streamline and facilitate their internal investigation processes. Adrian’s civil litigation practice includes debt recovery, commercial disputes and defamation. Adrian was part of a team which represented a significant party in the 89- day Committee of Inquiry into the collapse of the Nicoll Highway in 2004. Adrian is a volunteer lawyer with the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS), a non- profit initiative by the Law Society of Singapore to provide assistance to the needy in criminal cases. Adrian has also been involved with the establishment of the Association of Criminal Lawyers in Singapore (ACLS). Outside the office, Adrian is an avid sportsman and musician. He is a self-confessed golf addict and former wedding singer.

Locam JAMES HUAN NAM GUAN James graduated with a law degree (Hons) from the National University of Singapore in 1999 and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2000. He began practice as a corporate lawyer with Rajah & Tann, and has since branched into other areas such as Employment Law, Probate and Estate Planning and Business Succession matters. James is recognized for his expertise in Estate Planning, and has been quoted in the local press, Channel News Asia and various financial magazines for his expert opinion. James has also co-authored two books: the “Singapore Master Financial Planning Guide” published by CCH Asia Pte Ltd, and “Estate Planning Made Easy” published by Sweet & Maxwell. The first book is currently being used as a master guide for finance, while the second book has been well received as a helpful guide for the lay-person. James is also a licensed financial adviser and a representative of the Monetary Authority of Singapore under the Financial Advisers Act. James is concurrently a consultant with Providend Pte Ltd, Singapore’s first fee-only financial advisory company. Providend is in itself unique as it adopts a team approach in its financial consulting process and assigns various consultants who specialize in the areas of investments, insurance, tax and law, to serve each client. Further, it adopts a strictly professional approach towards its clients by charging them a fee for work done and does not make money from commissions arising from the financial products and solutions it arranges for its clients.
